Lil Nas X described his arrest and brief time in jail as “terrifying” in his first public comments since being charged with assaulting police officers in Los Angeles.
In a video shared Tuesday on Instagram, the 26-year-old rapper, born Montero Lamar Hill, reflected on his recent ordeal, saying, “These last four days have been terrifying.” Despite the gravity of the situation, he added with a smile and a laugh, “Your girl is going to be OK. She’s going to be alright.”
The comments came after Lil Nas X, who faces four felony charges, pleaded not guilty on Monday. He was arrested and spent the weekend in jail before being released on $75,000 bail. His bail conditions include regular drug treatment.
Lil Nas X is accused of attacking three Los Angeles police officers. Authorities say he was found walking naked down a major street in the city’s San Fernando Valley and later charged at officers who were responding to the scene. A criminal complaint alleges the officers were injured, leading to charges of three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.
Lil Nas X did not provide further details about the incident, and his representatives have yet to respond to requests for comment.
