A man and a woman were arrested Friday on child-neglect charges after they allegedly used fentanyl in a McDonald’s bathroom in Miami-Dade County while caring for a 4-month-old infant, authorities said.
The pair, identified as Nathan Flores, 26, and Bryanna Rivero-Salazar, 25, were taken into custody by deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Flores faces additional charges of fentanyl possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to arrest records.
Deputies responded to a call about a man and woman reportedly doing drugs in a restroom stall at the McDonald’s on Southwest 112th Avenue. The infant, who is the biological daughter of Rivero-Salazar, was reportedly in a stroller inside the stall with the adults at the time.
A supervising deputy said he found the suspects holding a straw and a bag. Both appeared impaired, the arrest report stated. Investigators discovered four foil pieces with burned material believed to be fentanyl in Flores’ pants, two blue straws with suspected fentanyl residue and six clear plastic baggies of a white powdery substance suspected to be fentanyl.
According to the report, “the defendant and co-defendant failed to provide and protect the victim with the care, supervision and the services necessary to maintain the victim’s physical and mental health.” Both Flores and Rivero-Salazar were booked into the county jail.
