A 54-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a road rage shooting in Medley on Halloween night left another man wounded.
Emilio Humberto Rodriguez was arrested on Friday and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail. During a bond hearing Sunday, a judge denied bond after hearing details of the violent confrontation.
The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. near Northwest 64th Street and 87th Avenue, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Rodriguez and the victim were arguing outside their vehicles when the situation escalated. As the victim walked back to his car, Rodriguez allegedly shot him in the face before getting back into his vehicle and driving off.
Surveillance video captured the moment the gunfire erupted. In the footage, a single gunshot is heard before two white SUVs are seen driving away.
Authorities said the victim managed to drive himself to an urgent care clinic in Doral before being transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. He was later listed in stable condition. Deputies located a white SUV with visible blood stains as part of their investigation.
Rodriguez’s attorney claimed in court that the victim tried to enter Rodriguez’s vehicle before the shooting. The judge, however, denied bond, citing the seriousness of the charge.
Rodriguez faces one count of second-degree attempted murder.
